Advanced Air
The site objective was to improve delivery
times of custom built aircraft parts to U.S. military and large commercial
airlines. The site consists of 8 public pages and more than 20,000
privates pages which fulfil the design mission. A proprietary data
base and data entry system was built to allow each customer a secure,
password protected area which presents over 70 part dimensions and
specs. Specifications and blueprint information can be updated in
real time, or the customers can deviate dimensions for required parts.
Data is transmitted directly from the overhaul shop to the manufacturing
facility and then fed into automated milling machines for near immediate
fabrication.
Prior to deployment of the site, these parts were often subject
to a 2-3 week process which involved repeated handling (and potential
errors) of the same information. This has been transformed into a system
that delivers finished parts worldwide within 72 hours of the original
entry by the overhaul mechanic. System automation has delivered solid
ROI for AA Bushings along with significant improvements in their
product delivery time. The site was featured in Aviation Week magazine
as an example of new technology improving the aircraft industry
